Blackout Igbokwe Chika Johnson Stars As International Cast



Its no longer news that Nollywood movies are beginning to gain the interest of international audience as they have become one of the most demanded and streamed movies on the international movie streaming platform Netflix. Thanks to Nigerian movie makers and actors that have taken it upon themselves to step up movie productions in Nollywood to world standard.


Though the budget of movie production in Nollywood is yet to catch up with their international counterparts, we can say we are getting there as we have had some good Nollywood movies that were shot in Nigeria and other international locations, with a combination of local and international casts and crew members, giving the world class touch to these movies that has revived the cinema visiting culture of Nigerian movie lovers, that was once a wish by Nollywood movie makers.


One of such movies we should be expecting on the big screens of Nigerian cinemas this month of October is ‘BLACKOUT’ that stars one of Nigeria’s most popular actor in Malaysia Igbokwe Chika Johnson popularly known as Mr Smile for his contagious smile, and other Nigerian A list actors as headed by Segun Arinze.


Igbokwe Chika Johnson who hails from Aguata local government area of Anambra state has made himself an household name in Malaysia over the years, since he began his career as a fitness model and professional actor in 2011, starring in Malaysian movies and television commercials for international brands including Reebok, Mentos, Caltex, and CrossFit. He has also featured in a Nigerian television commercial for Harpic shot in Malaysia, co-starring Nigerias A list comediene Hellen Paul.


His catalogue of movies since becoming one of the most sought after black actors in Malaysia include the following: SINGAM 3, THE CONFIDENCE MAN, SANGKAR, GERAKHAN RASHIA, MAT BOND, and many others. His success as a Nigerian born actor achieving great feats in the Malaysian entertainment industry has caught the attention of big Nigerian newspapers that,,,,, and many others has profiled him on their daily publication.


Blackout whose story reflect the epileptic power supply which has been a major problem in Nigeria over the years, despite the vast natural and mineral resources the country is blessed with, was shot in Nigeria, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia. The movie was screenplayed and directed by Abbey Abimbola, Nigerian born Malaysian based pro actor, and stunt man popularly known as Crackydon, who also stars as the lead male character, and co-directed by Murphy Afolabi. It would be premiering on Cinemas allover Nigeria come October 29th.
